Opinion: Neighborhood meeting about crime well attended

image_pdfimage_print

To the community,

The Aug. 22 neighborhood crime meeting went well, with about 50 people attending.

South Lake Tahoe police were informative and supportive. It seems that police logs are at the front desk and could be added to a website if we had one.

I would like to continue a neighbor watch discussion. Maybe another meeting next month is in order. Any feedback is welcome either online or Acornlawn@yahoo.com or (530) 544.7795.

Thank you, Mike, for heading this up, and thanks to SLTPD for being responsive to our concerns.

I’d like to see a crime map posted to one of the city webpages. Show us where the SLTPD has responded to criminal complaints.

I was very impressed by how many of our neighbors showed up. I do feel like the neighborhood watch is a great idea but felt the easiest basics got missed. Be a little “nosey

Be a little “nosey-er” of a neighbor, know what is normal for your street, exchange phone numbers with your neighbors so there’s an easy line of communication about anything unusual or upcoming vacations ect. And I think porch lights/ motion sensor lights actually turned on would be a big help … This is a DARK area … Let’s light it up so we can see why the dogs are barking or what that noise was. Another meeting sounds good :) Thanks Mike!

Crimereports.com already does crime mapping. El Dorado county is part of this system. City of South Lake Tahoe apparently doesn’t participate in crimereports.com’s database. Crimereport.com is only good for about 30 days.
