Poetry slam champion Denise Jolly will emcee the April 26 poetry slam at Lake Tahoe Community College.
The event will begin at 8pm in the college’s Aspen Room. Jolly is a performer, writer, educator, and community builder, who has served as executive director of Seattle Youth Speaks, and co-host and facilitator of the Seattle Poetry Slam. Jolly was also the 2009 San Francisco Grand Slam Champion.
This is part of the college’s Writers’ Series.
The slam is free and open to students and the community. The cost to compete is $5 and competitors should prepare two poems. Competitors may sign up 15 minutes prior to the start of the event.
