The U.S. Department of Energy has awarded Nevada a $438,573 grant from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
The money will be used to hire or retrain people and expand state-level capacities to address challenges to Nevada’s electricity system, including readiness for emergency situations such as blackouts or service interruptions due to natural disasters or other infrastructure failures.
“Nevada must be prepared for any emergency or disaster,” Gov. Jim Gibbons said in a statement. “And that includes making sure our power distribution system is studied and plans can be created to make sure Nevadans have continuous electric service.”
I’m thrilled to see that Nevada is moving in the right direction with their energy needs. I’d love to see more solar and wind energy. Of all states Nevada has the space and sunshine to really capitalize on alternative energies.
